About Warwick Farm Equine Centre

Our dedicated team of skilled, passionate veterinarians and surgeons put equine athlete care and wellbeing at the forefront to ensure optimal performance. Established at the current premises in 2001, Warwick Farm Equine Centre has expanded to include world-class veterinarians, specialists and an onsite hospital and surgical facilities.

Principal veterinarian Dr Allan Frogley has worked in racetrack practice for over 30 years. He understands the importance of developing trusting relationships with trainers, owners, and all those involved in the management of the equine athlete. With this holistic approach, we can provide the best care possible for each horse.

Ambulatory

We provide ambulatory services including lameness examinations, treatments of medical conditions, vaccinations, dentistry, and more.

Surgery

We are home to some of the country’s top equine surgeons, who operate at our fully equipped surgical facility.

Son of veterinary surgeon Jack Frogley, Allan learnt his love of horses and veterinary science from his father. He rode as an apprentice jockey in 1974-1975, winning races around the Northern Rivers circuit.

Allan graduated from the University of Queensland in 1982, and spent five years working in the UK in world-leading equine practices. After returning to Australia in 1988, Allan worked for Randwick Equine Centre before branching out on his own to establish Warwick Farm Equine Centre in 1991. The practice established its current premises in June 2001.

Originally from Jamaica, Ray graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London in 2019. Having seen all aspects of the thoroughbred industry in Jamaica and throughout her time in England, Ray travelled to Australia to undertake the Equine Surgery and Anaesthesia Internship at Scone Equine Hospital.

Having gained valuable experience in surgery, anaesthesia, diagnostics, and medicine during her internship, Ray was awarded the EVA Norman Larkin prize in 2020. Keen to pursue her passion in sports medicine, Ray joined Warwick Farm Equine Centre in January 2021.

Graduating from the University of Sydney in 2005, James spent time in mixed practice in rural South Australia and Victoria, developing an interest in reproduction, equine performance, and lameness. He spent over a year in France working in performance and prepurchase, going on to become the principal of a successful ambulatory practice for over a decade, looking after clients through the Hills and Hawkesbury districts.

James has provided race day veterinary services for over 15 years and performed as an official veterinarian for Racing New South Wales for two years. James joined the Warwick Farm Equine Centre team in 2022.

Dr Nicholas Kannegieter

With a PhD in laryngeal hemiplegia, Nick’s a highly awarded Equine Surgeon. His special interest is in respiratory tract and orthopaedic surgery, particularly arthroscopy. Since serving as a Senior Registrar in Equine Medicine and Surgery at Sydney University, Nick has been a Consultant Equine Surgeon in private practice, working in equine clinics throughout Australia and internationally.

In 2021, Nick was awarded a prestigious Fellow of the Australian Veterinary Association for his outstanding service in the equine community. He has also been President of the AEVA, on the AVA Board of Directors, and Chairman of the AVA Insurance Advisory Committee.

Dr Hadley Willsallen

Graduating from Sydney University in 2003, Hadley’s work has taken her around the world, working alongside Dr Nick Kannegieter, one of the nation’s most highly regarded equine surgeons.

In 2014, Hadley was recognised by the NSW Veterinary Surgeons Board as a Registered Specialist in Equine Surgery, offering expertise in laparoscopic surgery, standing pararectal cystotomy, ophthalmic surgery and medicine, and diagnostic ultrasonography.

A member of the AVA, Hadley has been actively involved with Equine Veterinarians Australia including roles as NSW State Representative, Treasurer and more recently President. Hadley also works as an FEI veterinarian for events, including the Sydney Royal Show.
